Annual General Meeting

As a federally-incorporated not-for-profit corporation, National Capital FreeNet (NCF) is governed by its members, represented by an elected Board of Directors.

Since NCF was established on Sept. 29, 1992 we have had more than 100,000 members and currently represent more than 4000 members who support NCF's work to advance digital equity in the National Capital Region.

Each year NCF's members have the opportunity to engage with NCF's work during the Annual General Meeting (AGM), including electing candidates for NCF's Board of Directors, voting on special motions, examining NCF's finances and the past year's activities, and discussing issues affecting NCF and NCF management's plans for the future.

From NCF's first online AGM in 1993 through to 2023, NCF's AGM was exclusively held online using the NCF website.

Starting in 2023 to reflect governance best practices in compliance with the Federal Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, NCF started hosting an in-person AGM -- first online-only and now hybrid. NCF's Board elections process continues to happen online over a week to enable as many NCF members as possible to vote.
