Help celebrate 33 years of National Capital FreeNet's community-based internet and donate to ensure NCF is part of the future we're fighting to build!

NCF was founded September 29, 1992 and launched our online services February 1, 1993. Depending on how you look at it this will be the 33rd anniversary of our launching, the 33 1/3 anniversary of our founding, or our 100001 anniversary in binary.
If you hold an old floppy disk up to your ear you can sometimes still hear the screeching of a 300bps baud modem connecting on a single family landline.
In the 33 years since, the technology has changed (and changed, and keeps changing.) But NCF's mission has stayed the same: we believe everyone has a right to affordable, reliable and secure internet services that they can understand how to use, while feeling safe online.
To celebrate and help fund our ongoing digital equity work, we're holding a movie fundraiser of 1995 tech classic "Hackers" at the Mayfair Theatre on Sun. Feb. 1, 2026 at 2pm. Get tickets now with a $20 donation:
We're also launching new t-shirts and other branded swag by donation: www.ncf.ca/freethenet
***If you can't come but still want to support the event and NCF's digital equity work, you can buy a ticket for someone else through the Eventbrite ticket check-out or donate directly to NCF at www.ncf.ca/freethenet.
We also have a number of free/sponsored tickets for those that want them, email execdir@ncf.ca to get the promo code.***
