ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

September 5, 1985

Catlin wandered about the party like a lost soul.

Cass said he had known nothing about the room. Kathleen wondered why Michaud would be spying on people. Cass is inclined to blame it on Daniel. Kathleen doesn't believe Daniel peeks. They argued about who should ask him. Enter Daniel.

Victoria told Donna that she'd lied to her and she couldn't anymore and if after she heard this she never wanted to see her again she'd understand.

Marley sat down to write a letter to Jake. "Dear Jake I wish I could say goodbye in person but I can't." He said her name in his sleep [a practice common to all men in love].

Nancy sidled up to Chris, asked him to dance, and tried to get him out of his jacket. He protested. He asked how many pills she'd taken. She maintained it was merely champagne. She said she felt dizzy and he'd better help her over to the couch. He made her comfortable and tried to feed her. Nancy: now don't go all medical on me, now, doc. You just sit there and look cute. He told her she had to go to bed. She said not alone. He said no. She said she wanted him. He said it was the pills and champagne talking. She confessed she'd taken two pills. He's going to put her to sleep. he carried her up the stairs.

Cass asked Daniel about the mirror. Daniel defended Lesoleil saying that Michaud wanted to observe women unseen so they would behave naturally and he'd know how to transform them better. Cass felt he should have been told. He got Kathleen to admit she wouldn't like to be spied on. Daniel asked Kathleen to dance. She left with him.

"Jake when I think about you I think about these past few weeks we've spent together. You showed me a whole new world. I'll never be the same. I wish I didn't have to write this but I do."

Donna assured Vick she wouldn't lose her. Vic told her Marley had been arrested in her hometown. NOT GALESBURG. Donna took fits at her.

Catlin saw kinked blonde hair and attacked the wearer thereof. It was not his wife. Liz collared him and told him he had to go up and rescue Sally from the press conference. He wouldn't. He'll wait down here. Brittany caught him and told him she had something for him if he'd go someplace quiet with her. Liz looked disapproving. Catlin went outside with Brittany and declared it too quiet but she made him sit down and tell her what day it was. The best he could manage was Thursday. Turns out it's their wedding anniversary. [She says he used to forget even when they were married but I don't believe it. He seems to me the sort to remember above and beyond the call of duty.] Would have been five years this year. She kept on about the storm. She gave him a gift wrapped package. She reminded him of their Denver honeymoon. and Evan. She says he would have been three years old next month. [This would mean that Catlin ran to Bay City almost immediately after she drowned and fell for Sally like a ton of bricks. I don't believe THAT either.] She mentioned that they had been plotting further children and this broke her down utterly. He comforted her [taking her in his arms and smoothing her hair.]

Liz wandered about looking for Catlin. Ada accosted her. Ada's going home and Brian [with a moustache! Dead ringer for Carl, ho yuss] must take her, since Mac and Rachel have gone to Overlook Bay [the site of Sally's roughing up as a prelude to being determined Lesoleil woman]. He's coming back to have the last dance with Liz though.

Victoria told Donna she'd been really afraid and she'd be trustworthy from now on. Donna told her she thought of no one but herself. Victoria said they should think of Marley and she'd go get her. Donna said she'd send Peter. Vic refused to tell where Marley was in PA. She's determined to rescue Marley herself. Donna got upset and Vic fled.

Daniel had to leave. Kathleen wanted to stay and talk to Sally. Daniel looked and sounded like he was about to cry. He suggested a nightcap at his place. She declined. He got upset and accused her of stringing him along. She defended herself. He said Cass would always be in the way [and insinuated that she was going home with Cass]. She begged him not to leave. He said it wasn't meant to be. He told her she looked beautiful and left. Cass came over and asked if she were all right. She [on the verge of tears] said in a tight little voice "well you got what you wanted Cass" and fled.

Donna found Peter and gibbered at him. He was fogged.

"I won't stand in your way Jake. You and Victoria belong together. She was first. And the more I learn about you and her the more I realize how right you are for each other. These last few weeks have been wonderful. The best I've ever had. They made me feel things I never thought I could. You made me feel like a woman [good god] but now it's time to put all that behind us. When you come back to Bay City I promise not to come between you and my sister. She needs a man like you. I'm glad she has you. Please don't worry about me. I'm going to be fine on my own really. Thanks for making me so happy even if it was only for a little while. Marley." She shoved it into an envelope and left it on the table next to him. She left. He woke up after a bit and found it.

Ada returned home rather loudly and saw Chris picking up most of Nancy's clothes. He was in a bathrobe. She questioned him, calmly at first, but then got upset at him. He kept saying nothing happened. He said Nancy'd had too much champagne. She said he was lying. She's going to get it out of Nancy.

Brittany and Catlin had a nice little chat with her dragging him down memory lane. She said the saddest part was if it hadn't been for the storm they'd probably still be together. It wasn't that the marriage was bad. She said she could find herself attracted to other men now, something she hadn't thought possible five years ago. She made him open his present. The lucky horseshoe he'd given her for their first.

Marley is a rotten envelope stuffer. Jake read the letter.

Aunt Liz came across Catlin comforting Britt again. She interrupted them. Catlin gave the horseshoe back. "Maybe it'll bring me what I want" she said. He said "see you later". Britt left. Aunt Liz took exception to his phraseology. She told him he belonged with Sally. He said Sally didn't need him right now and Brittany did because she was depressed about Evan. Aunt Liz threw herself sobbing on his chest and apologized. He forgave her and reminded her that he and Sally loved each other and everything was OK in spite of his disinclination to be a public husband.

Peter tried to calm Donna in order to get the story straight. He'll get a Philadelphia lawyer. He has to find out where Marley is but Donna won't allow him to let it get public.

Jake called Bridget from the bus station to say Marley had gone, probably home. He intended to follow Marley and told Bridget he loved her but Bridget told him he loved Victoria and would stay put. She told him he belonged with Vic and Marley didn't love him. He gave in.

Ada told Chris Nancy looked as though she'd cried herself to sleep. They fought madly. She demanded answers.

Cass found Kathleen outside alone and tried to be kind but she was standoffish. He didn't sound properly distraught to hear she was afraid that Daniel had left for good. They quarreled. "Kathleen, the guy is obviously a GIGOLO." "Cass so help me —" "I have SEEN him coming on to other women, it's disgusting." She told him to quit trying to run her life and flounced off.

Victoria dreamt she came across Jake and Marley entwined in each other's arms on the floor, Marley laughing and Jake grinning madly "Victoria we weren't expecting you" "you are making love to my sister." "I can't help it" said Jake, shaking with suppressed laughter "it's better" and resumed kissing Marley. Victoria woke up as the plane began its descent to Pittsburgh. "I know it now. JAKE and MARLEY."

Ada demanded the whole truth. She got upset. Chris said he was going to bed. She wants him thrown out. He said he'd leave tonight.

Kathleen called a cab. She berated "the new Kathleen" for losing two men in one night. She blames the change.
