ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

September 19, 1986

Rachel is afraid of losing custody of Matthew.

Beatrice Jones agreed to tell Adam and MJ everything.

Mary just missed Vince at Mary's Place.

Donna organised the rented staff. Peter and Reginald are in cahoots to make Marley believe Jake is in this for the money. (CLEVER.) Donna asked what he was hiding behind his back. After a certain amount of backchat he produced the expensive bracelet and said it was a present for Marley. She was thrilled. She rushed upstairs. Peter told Brittany Jake was being led to the slaughter. She said he probably didn't think of it that way and if he felt like that about marriage why didn’t he let her go? He said he wasn't talking about marriage. Jake appeared. Peter feigned excessive interest in his jacket in order to be able to slip the bracelet into his pocket.

Rachel fretted. She and Mac quarreled because Mac pointed out that Mitch honestly wanted to be with Matthew. She accused him of taking Mitch's side and thinking of her as an irrational woman. Enter Vince.

Beatrice Jones has a lot of cats. She doesn't like Reginald. She started to laugh when they asked her who the patient in room 333 in 1969 had been. She never knew. She logged the visitors. She gave the names of the doctors and nurses. They ran into Cass on their way out. He said he was entitled to investigate privately. They introduced him and fled. He's allergic to cats.

Cheryl was introduced to Marissa as a McKinnon. She [Marissa] told Scott this and Jake & Marley proved that McKinnons and Loves could get along. She told Cheryl she was waiting to see Vince. Cheryl told her Vince had gone to the cemetery to put Mary's bust on the grave. (This must be the anniversary of her death. Ye gods.)

Vince collected the bust from the Corys'. He was tremendously pleased with it. He left. Rachel and Mac made it up, after a fashion. Then they argued about the clothes she was wearing and headed for the hearing.

Michael was nice to Brittany because she looks unhappy and afraid. She dispersed when the guests began to arrive. Catlin appeared. Peter materialised almost immediately.

Mary told Scott about Brittany and Donna and said she'd be leaving town. She missed Vince by seconds. He appeared and told Maisie about Mary's death.

Judge Spooner was delayed. Mac and Rachel argued. Rachel is tense and fearful. Mitch is driving her insane. She dreams about him. She hates him. (Matthew is fourteen years old.) Enter Mitch. Rachel yelled at him. He said he wanted to see his son.

The engagement party went nicely. General chaffing and hilarity. Michael caused an awful lot of kissing. Peter made a big production of sending Jake to fetch his present. Michael arranged to have Reginald bounced if he should show. Jake returned with an empty box. Peter made insinuations. (He must be crazy. Who would believe that Jake would steal a bracelet he would get by marriage anyway between the study and the terrace? Peter must think Jake is as stupid as we think Brittany is.) Marley protested. Everyone took Jake's side, although Donna has niggling doubts. Peter pretended he hadn't made insinuations. Jake suggested they search him. Peter backed off. Jake insisted. Marley was not pleased. Peter found nothing in Jake's jacket. Michael found the bracelet on the carpet. Everyone was relieved. Michael seemed suspicious.

Rachel calmed down some. Mac was called away to the phone. She tried to pick a fight with Mitch. She accused him of trying to bug her.

Marissa lurked.

Cass tracked down Adam and demanded the list of names. Adam is big on the Book. Cass took offense.

Judge Spooner asked what Matthew had been told about Mitch. Rachel admitted that she hadn't told him Mitch was in town for fear of disrupting his life. She decided she'd heard enough to rule.

The party dispersed. The mood is subdued. Catlin was civil to Brittany. He left. Michael accused Peter of having set Jake up. He was an eyewitness to the clever shoving in the pocket. Violence erupted. Donna got upset.

Mary looked at her grave but fled when Vince appeared. He said a Hail Mary. He talked about how much he'd loved Mary and damned the Loves for having taken her away from him.

The judge ordered that visitation rights be arranged within the next twenty-four hours.

Jake helped haul Michael off Peter. Michael told him to tell Reginald he would defend Marley to the death. Marley was hustled up to bed by Bridget and Donna. Peter left. Jake told Michael he and Marley would be married and everything would be all right. Michael said he was sorry but NO WEDDING BELLS FOR BINGO. Jake reeled. (One of those reeling McKinnons. You can't keep them down.)
