ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

August 16, 1985

Donna is not getting off on the right foot. Michaud made no secret of his annoyance at finding her in his office.

Victoria is in a State. She doesn't think Jake wants to bring Marley back. She doesn't trust them alone together. One of them has got to go after them.

Tom and Dee are fishing at Zane's. The baby's kicking.

Jake isn't thrilled by Marley's job. It's not a nice place. She has a plan for them to make $400 by tonight. He's wary. There is a $50 entrance fee for a weightlifting competition. (Marley: look at this. It starts after work this afternoon. Jake: there's an entrance fee, Marley. Marley: the winner gets $400. Jake: there's a $50 entrance fee. Marley: so after we've fixed the bike we'll have $220 leftover. Jake: HEY, there's a $50 entrance fee. Marley: do you know you have a tendency to repeat yourself? Jake: do you know you have a tendency not to listen? Marley, where are we going to get $50? Marley: Well I talked to Lamont. He said he'd give me in advance. Jake: OF COURSE Lamont 's going to give you an advance he's going to get the money right back. Marley he's PUTTING THIS THING ON. Marley: no he doesn't he just holds it for us until you win. Jake: Marley, I don't want to repeat this one so I want you to listen VERY CAREFULLY. WHAT IF I DON'T WIN? Marley: but you have to win to get the $400. Jake: no, I UNDERSTAND the concept. But what if I don't? Marley: JAKE. I don't want this to go to your head or anything but you have the best body around here. Jake: thank you. Marley, have you ever seen the Olympics? Marley: of course. Jake: and you know the guys that get the gold medals for weightlifting? They don't put those guys on calendars. Marley: so? Jake: I am about 30 pounds too light to even THINK about competitive bodybuilding. Marley: don't be silly. Jake: MARLEY, I lift to stay in shape. The guys that lift for competition are big, I mean you have to be HUGE. Enter a wimpy guy who asked Marley where to sign for the contest. Jake: it requires he's probably a manager for one of the contestants. Lamont: here's your free T-shirt, Milt. Marley: oh, all of the contestants get a free T-shirt. I forgot to tell you that. Milt: I thought about giving up but the T-shirt kept me holding on. Lamont: go for it, Milt. Go for it. Jake: do you have the—Marley: right here. Jake: I thought you would.) They turned the money over. A woman came in to pay money for her friend Julius who prefers to be called Hoss. HE is HUGE.

Bridget told Victoria she was daft. What about Donna here and Marley there. Trust Jake. Vic doesn't.

Michaud asked Donna about Sally. She told him Sally had been engaged to Peter and they weren't really friends. Michaud asked if she knew Mr. Ewing Sally's husband. [Oho.] She said yes. He commented upon Catlin being in the papers and dashing. Donna agreed he was very intense. Michelle asked if she didn't think it peculiar that the adventure wound up with Brittany. Donna said she was intense too and "pretty... in her own way."

Zane found Britt in the Cory stables. He thinks she should be resting longer. [Just released from hospital for the umpteenth time since her arrival in Bay City.] They quarreled amicably. He wants her to come down to the marina, meet Dee, not work nonstop. He wasn't thrilled with her undercover work. She was pleased to get Willa's killers. He said she'd be dead if it hadn't been for Catlin and she said she'd known Catlin would come through for her. He [alarmed] asked if she were still getting the divorce. She said nothing. He said if she didn't she'd only get depressed and she had to face up to the truth. She said she'd spent the past three weeks NIGHT AND DAY with Catlin and Zane would be surprised to hear what the truth really was. [So would Catlin, I suspect. Her version is warped.]

Tom and Dee are cold. It's going to rain. Tom doesn't want to go home. Dee likes Carter and Tom's relationship. Tom caught a fish.

The mechanic told Jake he stood no chance against Julius ... HOSS. Even if he did win Julius would get upset.

Donna gave Michaud a bunch of society profiles. He asked how well she knew Brittany. She said she worked at the Cory stables. Exit Donna. "BRITTANY PETERSON," said Michaud thoughtfully.

Zane is doing Britt's work for her. Zane: it was either that or drag you home by the hair. Britt: oh, I just love you rough types. Zane: like Catlin? She told him these past three weeks everything she and Catlin had ever had was there. He said he still loved Sally and Kevin and cited himself as an example of one who has given up loving a lost cause and found someone better. Britt insisted Catlin was not a lost cause and even if he did love Sally he loved her TOO. He said she was just as deaf as she ever was. She made him go.

Tom had a contraction. Dee didn't know what to do. Tom told her to get a cab.

Bridget called next door to the house in Lassiter to see if there was any evidence of habitation. NONE. Victoria isn't convinced. She has to go see what's up in Lassiter. Why doesn't Jake call?

Marley got pre lifting tips from Hoss's girl. She's feeding Jake carbohydrates. (Jake: did Susie tell you what Hoss does to people who beat him? Marley: well she says that nobody ever beats him. Jake: I heard. Did she tell you what has does to people who come close? Marley: well I think those are just scare tactics don't you? Jake: well it worked, 'cause I'm SCARED. Marley: NO YOU'RE NOT. Now you're going to win all this money, we're going to fix the bike., and then we'll be on our way. Jake: simple as that. Marley: simple as that. I mean, people don't beat other people up just for winning a weightlifting competition, it's UNSPORTSMANLIKE. Jake: that's funny because when has walked into the room for the first time SPORTSMANLIKE was not the first thing that came to mind.) She told him he could back out if he wanted. He told her Susie was wrong. It's not carbohydrates but kisses that do the trick. (Marley: WELL that little witch. She was just trying to fix this match. Jake: I'm sure of it. Marley: we can't let her get away with THAT.) She obliged. The mechanic was given the spaghetti.

Michaud found Britt in the stables. He wants to talk with her. He wants to ride. But it's going to rain. They've read about each other in the paper. She told him Catlin was the hero of that business. He wants her to ride with him. She was pleased. He said it would be a nice way to get to know each other.

Zane's phone's dead. No cab. It's raining. Dee will go look for one. Tom's worried about the FISH for heaven's sake. Further contractions.

Donna returned home. She said to Victoria, " you look pensive." "no, i'm just thinking." [good.] enter Peter. Working at home. Donna told them about her wonderful day. Peter got upset about the dress bill. Victoria got upset and fled.

Marley cheers insanely. The prize has gone up to $550. Susie's spending the money already. She told Marley she used to make more money betting on Hoss too but now no one is dumb enough to bet. "what kind of odds do you give?" queried Marley meaningly.

Tom's breathing. Dee went to get a cab. She's sure they'll make it in time.

Donna told Peter she would spend her wages as she pleased. He wanted to discuss taxes. She's going to call Marley. Then they'll go out to celebrate. She got through to the Comptons with Vic standing there.

Jake wasn't thrilled to hear Marley had money on him. She cheers wildly. They're up to 150 pounds.

Tom's alone begging Dee to hurry and calling Carter.
