ANOTHER WORLD DAILY SYNOPSIS.

August 14, 1985

Michaud is plotting Lesoleil Woman publicity. A dress design came. Daphne thinks it's for her. For the NIGHT OF GOLD.

Strange sounds. Crickets and thumps and strange breathing. Marley wishes she were Victoria right now because she'd know what to do. She trusts Jake. Kissing. Sudden cessation. He said he couldn't do this. It's not right. He said he felt the same about her as she did about him.

The dress is for Sally. Daphne mustn't take away from Sally's splash on the NIGHT OF GOLD so she can't be in as superb a dress. Daphne told him Sally wouldn't take it being deeply attached to her husband and son and likely averse to being away from home for extended periods of time. Michaud said he would have Sally. Daphne doubts it. He said he wouldn't fail. She said he's behaving as never before.

Sally: oh I feel so good. Catlin: I want us to have a baby. Sally: maybe it would be right. Catlin: no, not MAYBE. It is. Sally: when you want something — Catlin: I go for it. Sally: a BABY. Catlin: everything is so perfect right now. Sally: it would be nice. Catlin: it WILL be nice. Kissing. I love you so much. Kissing. [It's not good, this. It makes me fear for their health. To be so set on this practically ensures that one or both is incapable or Brittany will shove Sally off a step ladder or something.]

Rachel showed sketches to Michaud for the foyer sculpture. She explained her relationship with Sally. Michaud suggested that Catlin was wildly happy living in a cabin in the woods because he was the outdoor type but Sally was more a sophisticated city dweller. [The idea! Suggesting Sally was less delirious about it than Catlin. Well. It was after all the site of the camisoled memorable chiasmus "You knew, you came; You came, you knew."] Rachel told Michaud they owed Frame-Harding a vast sum of money. He wrote a personal cheque.

Catlin started rattling off baby names [Seth and Aaron). Sally: I think you're a little bit ahead of yourself. Catlin: you're right. It might be a girl [it's nice to see he's open minded on the subject]. ABIGAIL. ABIGAIL, yeah. Sally: it's going to take nine months to have a baby. We're going to have plenty of time to think about names. Catlin: I know. But it's fun. [Any irresponsible idiot who would name his son Seth Ewing [jagged line of inexpressible fury]. I votes it be a girl. Elizabeth is good. Not called Liz.] Sally: yeah it's fun. I just have to concentrate on some other things like designing the Lesoleil perfume bottles. Catlin: ah, you could do that in a week. Sally: no. I want these bottles to be very distinctive. I want them to be FANTASTIC. Catlin: anything made by Sally Ewing will be fantastic. Especially a BABY. * Hey, how about Frances. FRANCES. FRANCES. Sally: you are INCORRIGIBLE [so was God-bless-what's-his-name. KURT] NO NO NO. Kissing. Larry came visiting at this unreasonably early hour. He told them he was getting a commendation from the department and he wanted them to be there. Sally can't but she sent Catlin to get dressed properly. She advised Larry to call Clarice and invite her and went to get Catlin. He did.

Marley isn't speaking. Jake chatted uncomfortably. She argued with him about their closeness. None of it made much sense. She can't understand him.

Clarice didn't want to come. Cory can go but not Jeanne. Catlin and Sally appeared. [When Larry arrived Sally kissed him but when the two left she kissed only Catlin.] exit Ewings, male. Michaud called Sally. He congratulated her on her husband's bravery. They'll meet this afternoon. She's impressed [he'll send the limo at 4:30].

Jake paid for the bike. They intend to go to Lassiter. Suddenly he said he was taking her back to Bay City.

Daphne bitterly offered to resign. Michaud doesn't want her to leave. She's upset because he's not there even when they're together. He told her he must have Sally no matter what and she had no cause to be jealous. She told him Lesoleil must be run as a business. He cast up to her her treasure hunt. ["If I ever ever leave you you'll be in big trouble, Michaud."] They're getting along better.

Cory is impressed by Larry's importance. Larry wisely told him there was more to life than fame and benevolently offered him his medal. Cory went to show Kevin. Sally appeared and kissed Catlin. She fled to see Michaud after a whispered conference regarding Larry's depression. Larry is doing something weird. [Not cartwheels.]

The bike is no good. $180 more. Marley won't go home. She'll have Peter wire money. Jake won't let her.

Larry is going to quit the force. He can't take the restrictions and rules. He needs freedom. First of all he's going to get his family back together. Catlin asked how he'd make a living. Larry said "by working with my brother." Catlin goggled and said "HOSPITAL SECURITY?" Larry suggested detective agency. Catlin was incredulous. Larry pushed it.

Daphne was impressed by Rachel's sketches. Rachel was interested in Daphne's lipstick case [one Sally admired a while back]. Exit Rachel. Daniel caught Daphne checking out for the day.

Jake told Marley it would be a blow to her independence if she called Peter. He has to get to Lassiter by hook or by crook. They quarreled. He gave in. He'll get a job before she can call Peter. She pointed out that too would be a blow to her independence. She will get a job. He told her to stay out of trouble and left to check on the bike.

Daphne told Daniel Michaud was too extravagant on Sally's behalf and Lesoleil would be bankrupted. Daniel doesn't quite see her side. She says it's ridiculous and absurd.

Larry restored Cory to Clarice. He told her about resigning from the force and promised he'd make everything all right again with the family. She cast up to him his sleeping with Adrian [so why does he never deny it? I thought he hadn't.] and said he wasn't coming home after all the damage he done. Larry had difficulty telling a happy Cory he wouldn't be coming home for a bit.

Jake returned and Marley was missing. Job prospects are not good. Marley appeared waitressing or bartending or something.

Daphne seems to be drinking alone. Daniel wants to take her away. "I like this place. It's quaint." "it's a dive." She is determined to leave Michaud in the lurch and watch his world crumble around him.

Michaud's cheque bounced. Rachel's not thrilled.

Sally and Michaud took off in an elevator in the unfinished HQ. [I'd like to record that he made a pass at her and was pushed out but no such luck. No pass, no push. When it began I thought he was all in favour of Sally's husband but he seems weird about it and I'm afraid he'll talk her into something wicked.]

Catlin seems to harbor a desire to have his wicked ways catch up with him. Witness the longstanding preoccupation with chimneys.

Sally seems to be talked round now and it's just mostly silly. I can forgive anything short of impossible or incomplete pregnancy or Catlin getting like Carter [please no signs. And no gender arguments.] I can imagine him going insane and conducting bizarre chemical experiments to determine gender or guaranteed conception.

* If they don't get pregnant it won't be for want of trying. Seth: appointed. Aaron: [?] enlightener. Abigail: FATHER'S JOY. Frances: free.
