Report for the month of January 2007 The NCF always seems to be a very productive place during the winter months. Partly this is due to the large number of member renewal that occur during January, partly it is the pending AGM and vote for seats on the Board of Directors and partly it is on going development of new service for the Members. January was a record month for new DSL subscriptions boosting our total number of high speed customers to over 800. Daniel continues to do a great job of handling the setup and support of these members. I have created "job descriptions" for a number of volunteer roles at the NCF. Historically the volunteers in our communities have played a very supportive role at the NCF. We now have a great physical and online environment to welcome back volunteers into the fold. Finances for January are generally positive although member donations failed to meet last years numbers. In total donations were $25,867 as compared to $29,406 last year. DSl service and hardware margin added to the donations a total of $5,344 bringing total income for January to $31,211 As compared to a total of $32,258 for Jan 2006. (all numbers are estimates). January is traditionally our strongest month and we rely on its strength to carry us through the expenses associated with the leaner months. OUr overall expenses are inline with last years expenses, savings in telecommunications rates have been offset by rent and other increases in NCF living expenses. I look forward to having a treasurer to help us present more accurate financial data to the Board. Technical improvements this month include the development of an electronic funds transfer (EFT) application to allow for the direct transfer of monthly DSL subscription fees. Many members and potential members have been asking for this service. In addition it will help the NCF to reduce monthly banking fees. Testing of the main package is underway now with the introduction to members expected in March. john
