Peter Chapman - Candidate

What skills will you contribute to the NCF Board?

I have been involved in the business of networks and the development of the Internet over the past 40 years, including defining the requirements of a next generation Internet. I have experience in developing business cases for networking and for detailed analysis and recommendation on user accessibility and user experience. I have also been responsible for developing methods for protecting users and operators from abuse due to anonymous hosting of illegal and undesirable material.

I am very familiar with legislation affecting networks including the Digital Rights Management and licensing issues as well as statutes relating to privacy, SPAM, cookies and other related matters.

I have written recent position papers on such areas as BYOD (Bring Your own Device to Work), addressing the behavioural, social and legislative issues.

What are the most important functions of the NCF for its members?

Making Internet and www access available to its members in a trusted and fair environment while removing fear. Many vulnerable users fear crime, loss of privacy and open ended commitments to service providers. NCF provides a reliable, trusted safe alternative.

Why do you want to be an NCF director?

I can contribute to the overall philosophy of NCF and to the contribution it can make to our community. I can assist the board and executives of NCF by providing advice and information based on my knowledge and experience.
