Renewal letter #3 is proposed because I like short, to the point, easy to read intro statements. I have put in a marker for a link to more details where further details on why NCF would needs to have support from the members. The other link "the annual survey" could also be in the letter. I am putting forward this version of the renewal letter (credit to Chirantan Basu) from input received over the past 4 days. Jessica released the committees proposal(s) that the board members received last Sunday (thanks for that Jessica). I was not sure about some of the procedures at NCF (not wanting to step on any toes) and I was about to put the proposal out for input. General background: I like the annual survey that letter 2 incorporates. I like that both proposals mention the ability to use NCF for no contribution if that is desired. My preferred treatment of the survey is to have it part of an personal call where the member being called is surveyed on valuable input to assist the board members on making policy. At the same time a delicate plea for financial support may be incorporated. --------------- "%userfirstname%', The time has come for your National Capital FreeNet (NCF) account to be renewed. Twenty-four dollars a year per member is the minimum which we will need to meet anticipated expenses. NCF is almost entirely financed through the donations of individual members, and strives to evolve to meet the changing needs of the community. While we continue to receive donations of equipment from Key Partners, our annual operating costs are about $250,000. We ask for your help to keep this valued community resource alive and well. If you are unable to make a financial or volunteer contribution, you may use our service free of charge. No one is turned away.
