Keeping Ourselves Current re Internet Developments: A Proposed Method ===================================================================== Nov 98 Keeping ourselves up-to-date with internet developments helps us serve NCF members better as directors. But who has time to dig into as much as we'd like the web sites of places like GeoCities, eBay, other Freenets, online advertising, ISP services and policies, local web sites, Yahoo extras, our members, etc? Information on these and more would help us be a better NCF directors. Brainstorm ideas: To keep up to date, we could have a 1/2 hr session each board meeting where we receive a presentation on some topic. The presentation could be made by a director (we'd rotate) or by a member (we solicit interest) or by a professional. Probably most realistic to rely on ourselves. If by one of us, we'd pick an area that interests us (maybe from a list of topics of common interest and relevance), dig up info, and present it. Each of us might be willing to do an evening or two of preparation once a year, and that would give us presentations throughout the year. Benefits: Each of us would learn a lot about something, and all of us would learn a little about a range of things. Also, it might be an attraction to potential directors and/or members. Action requested: Commitment. Next step is collection of topic list.
