Development Report for October 1996 =================================== By Angela Lukach (ag544), Development Officer 1) Information Package ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With the assistance of the Executive Director, I have produced a comprehensive package of information for potential sponsors. This package includes the information on all levels of corporate sponsorship - from Key Partner to a Business Account. Several members have already requested the information for small business purposes, and our co-op students will assist me in contacting other small businesses in the National Capital Region to get them on-line. We anticipate launching this program in the week after Thanksgiving. Board members are invited to use the package in their contacts with friends and acquaintances. 2) Connection Sponsors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ With the assistance of several board members, sponsors from the last year were contacted with regarding to renewals. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful, though I understand the Passport Office is still considering us and will me a final decision next week. Dave Sutherland gave me two very good leads, both of which will also be contacting me again next week, one of which may sponsor several lines. The Museum of Civilization has paid to sponsor one line for 6 months. After consulting with the Executive Director, I have made approaches to Mosaid Technologies Inc., MetLife and Hummingbird Communications. Although Hummingbird is based in Toronto, its CEO, Fred Sorkin, is originally from Ottawa. I plan to approach the new Chapters Bookstore and the current Information Providers this week. I would like to thank Jeff Bossert for sponsoring a connection for his consulting business. 2) Current Campaign ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am pleased to report that the U.S. Robotics challenge drive has been a complete success. As of October 11, we have raised $21,000: well over the $15,000 targetted. 3) Grants ~~~~~~~~~ I have completed draft grant proposals for the Royal Bank of Canada and the Trillium Foundation. The RMOC grant information was received only a few days before the deadline for remittance and we were unable to prepare in time. I am investigating grant tracks through Carol Sage and will report as soon as I have additional information on the next deadline.
