Volunteer Co-ordination Task Force (VCTF) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This new task force had its first meeting on February 7th, 1996. Its mandate is to develop and implement the Volunteer Management Strategy 1996 for NCF (recruitment, recognition, training, etc.). Minutes of the 13 March meeting and upcoming agendas will be available in: - ncf.status.operations (go status) - ncf.admin.volunteer.discuss (go helpers) 2. NCF Volunteer Manual ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Currently, members of the VCTF are contributing documents for NCF's first Volunteer Manual. The purpose of the Manual is to provide a framework for managing volunteers within the NCF. Specifically, it will contain policies, procedures and other related documents. This will be posted in its present state in the "go helpers" menu for the April 1st deadline, with additions to follow. 3. NCF Volunteer Handbook ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This document, also targeted for posting by April 1st, is a quick orientation to the NCF for new volunteers. Such items as the NCF Mission Statement, Values and Volunteer Rights & Responsibilities are contained within. New volunteers will be able to access this document on-line. 4. NCF Volunteer Needs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Throughout March, various groups have been asked for their current volunteer needs. These needs have formed the first objectives for our recruitment efforts to begin within the week of March 18th - 22nd. Presently, the NCF is looking to fill 39 volunteer positions. Of note, recruitment will begin for 5 new task forces. They are: - Information Provider Training Task Force - Content Task Force - Outreach Task Force - Public Relations Task Force - Facilities Search Task Force In all, these represent 30 volunteer positions. 5. Volunteer Database ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A volunteer off-line database (Label Master) is being reviewed for temporary volunteer management needs. 6. Volunteer Management Strategy Workshop ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Workshop will occur on March 27th. It will bring together various representatives of NCF (Board members, staff and volunteers) to solicit feedback for the Volunteer Management Strategy (recruitment, etc.). Preparations for the Workshop are still underway. 7. Volunteer Policy - General ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Proposed Volunteer Policy - General was submitted to the Board for approval in the February 20th meeting. This policy, when approved, will provide a guiding statement for the NCF concerning the definition of an NCF volunteer. It was deferred to a later meeting. 8.
