Ouellette) Date: Thu Apr 11 12:18:13 1996 Subject: NCF DevComm Minutes - March 1996 meeting Minutes - DevComm Meeting, March 26, 1996 RMOC Headquarters, Billings Room Attending: Gordon Pearson, Bobby Giroux, Mike Mason, Andre Ouellette, Nancy Nadon, Brett Delmage, Miranda Gray, Donna Shaw, Natalie Munro 1. Introductions Greetings all 'round. 2. Approval of previous minutes: moved by Andre, seconded by Mike. 3. Projects a) NCF Sports Bobby Giroux outlined his plan to set up a number of sports teams composed of NCF members and to donate any proceeds from the games to FreeNet. He asked for permission to use the NCF name on team sweaters. Although NCF might receive funds from this initiative, it is not an NCF fundraising project -- there would be no cost to NCF and NCF would not be lia Ûble for injuries. Several members offered to help. Donna Shaw will contact Lisa Donnelly about the use of the NCF name. Bobby Giroux will look into creating a sig for this type of event. b) Pool Tourney Suggested date: April 28th, 1996. The tourney is run by Regent Pool Leagues to benefit NCF. Financial details are unavailable, but Donna suggested that NCF may receive $7 out of every $10. It was recommended that participants be encouraged to pre-register by e-mailing Donna. Andre will look into getting two trophies. NCF would not be liable for any injuries or other damage. c) Great FreeNet Online Auction No report - deferred. d) Community Fundraising Events Calendar Miranda Gray and Matthew Darwin are setting up a calendar to be used by charitable and non-profit organizations based on an outline provided by Gordon Pearson (an early WWW project). NCF would receive $3000 from the Community Foundation. Success could result in good publicity for NCF and could spawn other such projects. 3. Fundraising Ideas Group Nancy Nadon will join this group. Recruitment is necessary. Donna will do a task description. 4. Online Donor Drive This should kick off this week. May need to do drives three times a year. 5. Corporate Sponsorship The showcase news conference went very well. More sponsors are joining. Our relationship with the Board of Trade is excellent. More proposals are being sent out. Nancy will get sponsorship information from Gordon. Donna Shaw will approach Minnesotas for sponsorship. 6. Other Business Collecting donations through banks. Discussion focused on "automatic withdrawal" arrangements with the Bank. This will go to the Ideas group for a report. Services charges would be around $40-$50 per month. Mike Mason has volunteered to handle the bookkeeping if the idea is accepted. 7. Date of next meeting: April 23, 1996, RMOC. Motion to adjourn: Natalie, seconded by Andre.
