July Operations Report ====================== By Lisa K. Donnelly (am412), Executive Director 1. Complaints Resolution Committee Tools ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the last Board meeting the CRC made a request for more tools to facilitate their volunteer work at NCF. Our Systems Administrator worked with them and reported plans to the Executive Director. Currently they have tools for suspending or reactivating accounts and searching records for a variety of relevant logon information. The CRC is also experimenting with a new mail system. 2. Equipment for Lines has been Ordered ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the June meeting the Board approved the purchase of a terminal server and Sun server. The equipment has been ordered and the terminal server is now here. We are still waiting on the Sun Server which should arrive soon. 3. Outreach Update ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ottawa Public Library: The Executive Director and Director of Development met with the OPL to begin our Outreach partnership. NCF has sent letters for support to several corporations. The OPL has given us a first draft of a Memorandum of Understanding which we are developing. Andre Laurendeau Secondary School: The Executive Director and the Chair of the Francophone committee met with ALSS. A report with recommendations and costs will be circulated for August. Outreach Task Force: The Outreach task force, lead by Alana Boltwood (ad097), along with the Francophone committee, chaired by Jean-Yves Fortin (ai772), combined forces to collect old terminals from Stentor. They coordinated the pick-up of 119 terminals which were brought to Andre Laurendeau Secondary School. The task force is now deciding on how they will disseminate these to the community. For more details read ncf.sub.outreach. 4. Administrative Database Update ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Executive Director and Administrative Coordinator met with David Jones to review this project. The short-term decision is to revamp our existing database and continue to upload and manipulate comma separated text for donor mail. The longer term goal is to complete the database. We have reformed a group and Jean Wilmot (aa145) is helping with the coordination. Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 18 July. 5. New Development Officer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We have hired a new Development Officer. Her name is Angela Lukach (ag544) and she will start full time work with NCF on Monday, 23 July. In conjunction with her arrival we will be completing a revised Development Plan for the remainder of 1996. This includes kicking on another funding drive by the end of the month. Full plans will be released next week. 6. The NCF Picnic ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This fun, family event looks like it will be our best NCF picnic ever. We have 147 people signed up! Type "go picnic" to find out more. -- ** Lisa K.
