Process for receiving motions from the floor 2. Rules and Regulations motion 3. Obtaining Nominations 4. Templates for candidates 1. Motions from the Floor: (See document prepared by J. Cohen) 2. Rules and Regulations Motion: (Pending research and recommendation) 3. Nominations Issues: ====== Each year we need to look for skill sets lacking on the Board and attempt to find candidates that can fill them and benefit the Board in general. Common sense, good people skills, understanding on-line communities and patience are all important. In addition, the NCF Board would benefit from having some (or more of) the following skill sets: -Francophone members -Lawyers -Marketing and public relations professionals -Fundraising expertise -Community Relation expertise -Policy writing Recommendations: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We will not strike a formal recruitment committee or put forward a Board endorsed slate of candidates. Instead, Board members can individually recruit candidates deemed an asset to the NCF. The list of required skill sets will be posted and can be referred to as needed through out the process. When selecting a potential Board candidate, remember to discuss the following issues: -Provide background on NCF -Discuss NCF's values and philosophy to ensure understanding -Learn what the candidate expects from involvement with the Board -Explain responsibilities and expectations for Board members -See how the candidates' expertise and skills fit with NCF's needs 4. Template for Candidates: Issues: ======= Many members have expressed a need for a compact set of data on each candidate. One option would be to have a template for briefly listing accomplishments along with a short set of questions asking for one line opinions on various hot topics. Recommendations: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Produce a short question template for all candidates and recommend that everyone fills it out and installs it their menu as item 1 (or 2). -- ** Lisa K.
