Report of the Development Officer
August 21, 1996

I commenced my position with NCF on July 22, 1996.  In the past month, I
have been working on the following projects:

1)  With the assistance of Gordon Pearson, I have been identifying lapsed
line sponsors and I am developing an approach for contacting these
companies to obtain their renewal, in addition to securing new line
sponsors.  This will be ready to launch in September.

2) Working with the Executive Director and Rebecca Last, I wrote a
solicitation letter that was sent out to approximately 9,000 members
encouraging donations.  Since August 9, this has raised $2,810.

3) I have updated the donor lists for the months of May, June and July so
that all members who have donated since then are publicly acknowledged.

4) I received information from the Trillium Foundation regarding their
grant process and am developing an approach to request funds from them.
The application will be sent at the end of September.

5) On August 22, I attended the launch of the Outreach Centre in the
St-Laurent Complex.  I did some follow-up work with the Ottawa Public
Library and Dantek with regard to the press release and donor recognition.

6) With the Executive Director, I will be instituting a Challenge Campaign
in September with the objective of raising funds to match the donation of
modems by US Robotics.

7) Also in September, I will be involved in the development of web
sessions for small business at the Outreach Centre.  It is hoped that
these sessions will result in funds being raised through "business" PFAs
and donations.
