National Capital FreeNet / Libertel de la Capitale nationale

Mark Mielke (al278) - Candidate

I have been a long time member of the National Capital Freenet, and have been steadily increasing my services toward it. Initially it involved only organizing IRC meets, although along the path it turned into actually programming software for NCF, and being quite active in several newsgroups. I wish to take my highly technical background and complement the board's current members with these skills. Understanding how things actually work within NCF, as well as understanding what the members want, in my opinion, make me quite valuable as a candidate. I have worked for Nortel Networks for the last 6 years in different sections of the company, and have had a track record of initiating and executing my own projects, and then bringing them to completion. You can read my various opinions in several newsgroups on NCF if you wish. May the results of this election be beneficial to the future of NCF.

What skills will I contribute to the National Capital FreeNet (NCF) board?

I am a technical person. I understand how things work underneath the system that everybody talks about. I read the news groups quite actively. I partake.

What do you think are the most important functions of the NCF for its members?

I believe that the most important functions for NCF are as that of a community network. We cannot compete with any ISP on any other aspect.

Why do you want to be an NCF director?

I want to be able to have a say in how things ago, instead of sitting back with my hands tied.
