National Capital FreeNet Administrative Coordinator's Annual Report for 1996 As Administrative Coordinator, it is my responsibility to supervise and coordinate the NCF Office, which includes managing of members accounts, collection and deposit of donations to the NCF from all sources, and ensuring accurate and timely responses to calls to the voice help line. In addition, I assist the Executive Director in many aspects of operations including volunteer co-ordination and managing special projects. In 1996, the office "staff" consisted of 37 individual volunteers and 8 coop students. It is a rewarding challenge to manage the volunteers and coop students, with the seasonal fluxes of January, June and September, to provide a consistent level of service to our members. Meeting with the teachers from each school involved provides an opportunity to promote the NCF, which is featured at the various cooperative education employer events I attend. Management of the Electronic Resource Access Centre (ERAC) project at the St. Laurent branch of the Ottawa Public Library has become my responsibility. We will be staffing the centres with NCF volunteers at set times each week in order to promote the NCF and provide training to members. The first volunteers started in November, and I look forward to working with the OPL ERAC Coordinator as we expand these services into other branches. During the past year I was also involved with the planning of special events and activities, including the birthday parties, volunteer strategy workshop, picnic, and auction. Promoting community partnerships is central to my role in coordinating the various Information Providers on the NCF. During the past year we have added over 60 IP's reflecting a broad range of interests. I provided a staff inservice training session, to one of our IP's, on the advantages of participation in the NCF. The Fundraising Events Community Calendar was established this year to provide a centralized forum to promote events in the National Capital area. I am pleased to assist community groups with their event listings, introducing NCF to those not familiar with our services. The success of the administrative office depends on the support and dedication of many of our members. A list of the individual volunteers and coop students can be found on the go office menu. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved in the office during 1996. Sheila C. Alder bw306
