Churchill Family Adventure with Frontiers North

July 20 – Assiniboine Park Zoo and Meet & Greet

Air Canada thoughtfully changed our flights to go via Toronto then arrive in Winnipeg at 9:00 am.

Our meetup with Frontiers North was at 5:00 pm, so we decided to visit the zoo, where we knew we would see some Polar Bears. Pamela was meeting clients, so Craig drove B, B & G while K, K, S & D took an Uber.

The zoo was excellent. It is large, so we did lots of walking. The Arctic and Journey to Churchill exhibits were amazing. We also toured the Grasslands and Borel Forest, Open Range, Asia, Dinosaurs Uncovered, South America, Pollinator Garden and Kangaroo Walkabout. We had lunch at the Tundra Grill and an ice cream snack later.

The tired adventurers returned to check in to the Lakeview Signature by Wyndham Hotel beside the airport. After a shower and brief rest, we went down to a welcome dinner where we met our Frontiers North Interpretive guide, Mark Dunsmuir, and the rest of our fellow adventurers.

After dinner, we went on a tour of Winnipeg with the Winnipeg Trolley Company. Besides historical and political sites, we also did a walk about at the famous Arctic murals by Kal Barteski.
