Other Business:

Technical Equipment

-         Deadline is Nov. 4 VAF to inform Wally about request for subsidy for climbing ropes-equipment, whether or not purchase has been made (one rope request received)

-         $600 max. still available (climbing rope cost appears to be about $100 but need to check this)

-         ropes are first priority – could also consider harnesses  (bike helmets are OK)

-         The need for a subsidy for the Winter Adventure is an open question.  Climbing snowshoes can be expensive and maybe the subsidy should be more directly tied to this equipment, possibly including purchase.  A custodian would be required and VAF members may be able to fill this role – Mike Jowett will look into this further.

Next Meeting:  November 4, 2008 at 7:30 pm

John Stalker will give a presentation on the SPOT receiver. Cyndy Courtland’s company will give a presentation on their Amory Award entry – canoeing the Missinaibi River.  <note – Amory entry now scheduled for the December meeting>
