Instructions on Configuring Mozilla Thunderbird 1.x

You can configure Thunderbird to send and receive your mail by:
Start Thunderbird.
From the 'Edit' menu, select 'Account Settings' (or 'Tools' -> 'Account Settings' with older versions of Thunderbird)
Select 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)'. Enter mail.ncf.ca as the Server
Name.
Select 'SSL' for 'Use secure connection' (this should automatically use port 465).
Select 'Use name and password' and use your NCF account ID (eg., ab123).
Click the 'Add Account' button.
Select 'Email account' and click Next
Enter your name and your email address (like ab123@ncf.ca or
my_email_alias@ncf.ca). Click Next
Choose to use POP or IMAP to get your mail from the incoming mail server
(what's the difference between POP and IMAP?). The incoming server name is: mail.ncf.ca Click Next.
Enter your accountID for the User Name (e.g. ab123). Click Next.
For Account Name, just use what Thunderbird suggests. Click Next then click Finish.
Select 'Server Settings' under the new account you just created and select 'SSL' for 'Use secure connection' and click OK.
