Setting up Evolution Mail and Calendar

To setup Evolution do the following:

• Open Evolution.
• Click on Edit -> Preferences.
• Click on 'Add' to add a new mail account.
• 
• Enter your email address (ab123@ncf.ca), and your name.
  Click here to reserve a personalized email alias.
• Click 'Continue'.
• 

  Enter details for your Incoming server:

• Server type: IMAP+.
• Server: mail.ncf.ca. Port: 143
• User Name ab123 Use your NCF accountID here.
• Use secure connection: TLS encryption.
• Authentication Type: Password.
• Check 'Remember password'.
• Click 'Continue'.

• 

  The next screen you should be fine with all the defaults.

• Click 'Continue'.
• 

  Enter details for your Outgoing server:

• Server Type: SMTP
• Server: mail.ncf.ca Port: 465
• [X] Server requires authentication.
• Use secure connection: SSL encryption
• Authentication Type: PLAIN
• User Name: ab123 Use your NCF accountID here.
• [X] Remember password
• Click 'Continue'.
• 

  Name the account, click Continue and Apply:

• That's it!
• Now test the configuration by sending yourself an email.

The above configuration should work even if you are using a wireless laptop at an internet cafe. The transfer of your password and email between your computer and NCF will be protected by SSL.
