Lesbian and Gay Immigration Task Force (LEGIT) was formed in 1991 as a national organization actively working towards changing Canada`s discriminatory immigration laws.

We are not alone

Nine other countries - Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, South Africa, Finland, Spain and the Netherlands already have same-sex spousal immigration

Lesbian * Gay Canadians have feared speaking out for our non-Canadian partners because of the power Canadian immigration laws have over our relationships.

Coming together as LEGIT has helped us to break the silence. Members of LEGIT are courageously persuing court challenges and human rights complaints. We have met with politicians and the media in our efforts to become more visible. The menu maintainer is Victoria Edwards.
