Write to the Immigration Minister telling him that lesbian and gays should have the right to sponsor their non-Canadian partners. Use the points below as a guide. (date) Hon. Sergio Marchi Minister of Immigration House of Commons Ottawa Ontario K1A 0A6 Dear Mr. Marchi I am disappointed that your government still has not fulfilled its promise to explicitly include lesbian and gay rights within the Canadian Charter. I ask you for guarantees that lesbian and gay couples will not be discriminated against when applying for permanent residence status in Canada. Gay or lesbian Canadians should be allowed to sponsor their non-Canadian partners, as is the case with married, heterosexual Canadians. I am encourages to hear that your government is considering amending the Charter to include the prohibition based on sexual orientation. I would ask that you also remove the barriers faced by Canadians who are trying to assist their non-Canadina partners to become permanent residents in Canada Sincerely (your signature) (your name) (Your address) cc (Your MP, Justice Minister Alan Rock and LEGIT) LEGIT PO Box 384 Vancouver BC V6C 2N2
